When I graduated from Plainview High School many moons ago, I remember having my life planned--a career in education was NOT a part of those plans. Thankfully, plans changed. I've spent the last 27 years in education, 22 of those in the classroom and 5 as the lead teacher here at Plainview. When I was in the classroom, I remember telling my students that exploring different options and learning from our mistakes is how we learn more about the world and ourselves. I took that same mindset into leadership. Every situation, especially the ones that are the most uncomfortable, are opportunities for growth and self-improvement. Part of my role is encouraging our teachers to embrace the challenges, focus on professional growth, and remain reflective in their practice. When we are successful in accomplishing these goals, students grow. When students grow, everybody wins.
